The Monthly Rewind: October 2019

While the days seem to grow shorter with every day that passes as we make our way through Fall, the memories we make continue to grow in vibrancy and meaningfulness as we travel to new places and develop new stories to celebrate and share with one another. With a focus on telling the story of My Place, the stories of our people, and the amazing things we’re doing, the month of October was one for the history books!

Straight out the gate, we kicked off our spooktacular month with the opening of Kansas’ first and the brand’s 52nd hotel in Overland Park, KS.

Developed by Eller Enterprises and managed by True Hospitality LLC., we are beyond excited to celebrate My Place Overland Park, KS’ grand opening in the month of November! Click here to learn more.

After months of careful planning and development by Director of Public Relations, Ngoc Thach, we successfully launched Finding My Place, The Official Podcast by My Place Hotels several days later on October 9th to much industry acclaim.

The biggest launch by the PR Department since the rollout of the My Place Hotels Blog last October, Finding My Place provides the brand’s loyal followers, friends, and the hospitality industry with an intimate look into the inner-workings of our brand.

In Finding My Place, Director/Producer/Host Thach sits down with key members of the My Place story, from HQ Team Members to Investors and Franchisees, as they dissect the road that led them to My Place and the milestones they’ve crossed since. If you haven’t listened yet, we highly recommend that you do before the second episode is released in the coming weeks!

The following day, the My Place HQ team traveled to Nevada for the Grand Opening of the brand’s 51st hotel in stunning Carson City.

Our evening in Nevada provided many unforgettable memories that we can’t wait to share in the upcoming event recap! (You won’t want to miss it)

The following day, we showcased the amazing talents of our Director of Franchise Relations/Executive Assistant Staci Kay in the latest installment of The Layover.

Here’s a snippet from her Q&A: “Whether you’ve been a part of the My Place Family since day one or recently joined the team, chances are you’ve had a large number of meaningful interactions with Staci Kay. From her amazingly cheerful spirit that perfectly complements the hard work she does to the inspiring words she shares with you whenever you need them, Staci makes the My Place Team proud every single day.” Check out Staci’s Q&A to learn more.

A couple days later, a small group of franchisees and friends of the brand came together to take part in the first Franchise Hunt of the year at the Rivett Refuge!

The first franchise hunt was a great success and offered us a great deal of opportunities to connect with some of our closest partners and friends.

While the Franchise Hunt was taking place, we found our stride as we went on a publishing spree, featuring some of our most inspiring stories of the month!

The first story we shared offered our readers a behind the scenes look at the 2019 My Place Hotels HQ Company Hunt, titled “The Power of Saying Yes.” In the article, Communications Coordinator Tyler Harris (that’s me!) spotlights the incredible opportunities HQ team members have to take part in company traditions, while also building stronger relationships with our fellow HQ team mates.

Still on the topic of shedding light on our company’s culture and the value of coming together as a team, Ngoc Thach shared the story of the Blackmore family, owners/franchisees of the My Place Hotel in Hurricane, UT.

In the article, titled “Celebrating a Family’s First Hotel,” Ngoc explores the Blackmore family’s path to My Place from the very first time they met the HQ Team to the moment the Grand Opening celebration of My Place Hurricane came to a close. Make sure you check it out!

To close out a monumental day of storytelling, Social Media Coordinator Jay Kirschenmann shared the latest installment of The Guest Post, highlighting the stories of several of our most loyal guests from around the United States and why our product is perfect for any person looking for a home on the road.

If you’re interested in reading Jay’s article, titled “The Guest Post: Finding Home on the Road,” click here!

The following day, Tyler Harris shared yet another amazing story, highlighting the journey of a Border Collie named Katie who was reunited with her owners Carole and Verne King, 57 days after running away from the My Place Hotel in Kalispell.

In “Homeward Bound,” Tyler caught up with Katie’s owner Carole to learn more about her journey back to Katie and how supportive the hotel and the community of Kalispell were throughout the King’s two month search.

A few days later, the HQ team traveled to North Carolina for the Groundbreaking of the state’s very first My Place Hotel in the adorable town of Huntersville.

In Huntersville, we had the opportunity to connect with the community and develop relationships with so many fresh faces. While the recap for the event isn’t out yet, reader’s can expect to see it in the next week or so, featuring great perspective from Courtney Stephens of Celtic Services, Inc. Until then, click here to learn more about My Place Huntersville, N.C.!

The following day, we closed out an epic month of content with the release of a brand new blog series, titled Hear Me Out. An unconventional approach to answering conventional problems, the inaugural installment of Hear Me Out saw President/CEO Ryan Rivett answer the time-old question, “How do you get your creative juices flowing?”

We’d like to think Ryan offered a pretty great answer to the question, which was accompanied by an equally as great Spotify Playlist, but you’ll just have to see it for yourself!

As we celebrated the release of our latest blog series, we found an even greater reason to celebrate as we crossed our one year anniversary with the My Place Hotels Blog! *cue the confetti*

To celebrate one year with the blog, we asked our friends from around HQ to share their favorite articles from the past year with us in “Best of Blog: A Celebratory List From the First Year!” (If you love the blog as much as we do, you’ll definitely want to read this)

Just when we thought we were ready to put our party hats away for the month, we found ourselves in Watertown, SD at the Grand Opening of America’s 50th and South Dakota’s sixth My Place Hotel!

Reader’s can expect the official event recap of My Place Watertown’s Grand Opening to be released in the next week or so, written by Jay Kirschenmann.

With nearly every member of the HQ team in attendance alongside our friends from Venerts Hotel Management and the community, the Grand Opening in Watertown was easily one of the most unforgettable events we have ever had the pleasure of attending – the perfect way to close out an incredibly remarkable month!

As we make our way through the beautiful months of Fall towards the Holiday Season, we’re extremely excited to see what the month of November holds for us as we prepare for yet another one of our busiest months on record. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon for us in the coming month:

  • The final Franchise Hunt of the year at the Rivett Refuge Lodge, November 3-6th
  • Attending the HX Conference, Powered by AAHOA, November 10-11th in New York City
