The Monthly Rewind: September 2019

In the latest installment of The Monthly Rewind, we explore the moments that defined a trailblazing September and pick up speed as we push through our busiest Fall yet!

From the jump, we started September off with a splash as our Stay Rewarded® loyalty program was highlighted in an article featured in Hotel Management’s September Issue!

In the article, titled “Hotels Up Loyalty-Program Stakes,” My Place Director of Marketing Nicole Spaeth is quoted discussing the integration of social media marketing with growing our loyalty-program!

Days later, My Place EVP/General Counsel Matt Campbell made his way to Capitol Hill to join hundreds of hoteliers at AHLA and AAHOA’s 2019 Legislative Action Summit (LAS) in Washington, D.C., September 10-11.

While in Washington, D.C., Matt had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of hoteliers, congressional representatives, and even had the opportunity to show the strength of the hospitality industry to some familiar faces. My Place Blog fans can expect a recap of Matt’s time in D.C. in the near future!

On September 11th, we released an installment of The Layover highlighting the immense talents of our very own Brand Loyalty Administrative Assistant Cheryl Graf. Cheryl’s Q&A was one of our most captivating features to-date and gave our readers the opportunity to get to know the kind soul who is on the other end of the phone when you call My Place HQ!

The following day, several My Place HQ Team Members had the opportunity to represent the brand, support our founders, and support the community at the Ribbon-Cutting/Dedication Ceremony of Northern State University’s Harvey C. Jewett IV Regional Science Education Center on September 12th!

My Place Co-Founder and Industry Icon Ron Rivett and the entire Rivett family were recognized at the event for their lasting support of NSU and for Ron’s long-time partnership with Harvey Jewett! To symbolize Ron’s partnership with Harvey, the foyer of the new Science Education Center is named “Rivett Foyer.”

A few days later, our brand’s Twitter presence outdid itself with the arrival of Matt Campbell in the Twitterverse. If you haven’t already, make sure to follow Matt on Twitter!

The following day, we announced our return to the beautiful state of Utah as we officially revealed the date of the Grand Opening of My Place Hotel – Hurricane, UT, which would occur at the end of the month! That same day, several My Place HQ Team Members including My Place President/CEO Ryan Rivett and EVP of Franchise Sales Terry Kline (among several others) traveled to Sioux Falls, SD for the first ever AAHOA Upper Midwest Town Hall on September 17th!

Our evening in Sioux Falls with our friends from AAHOA and the South Dakota Hotel & Lodging Association provided us with an excellent opportunity to connect with new friends and reunite with old friends as we came together to discuss AAHOA, industry trends, and the beautiful state of South Dakota!

A day later, we shared our latest installment of The Layover, featuring the ever-so-charismatic soul that is My Place Director of Brand Management Michele White!

Whether it’s her impeccable ability to command the room with a smile on her face or her signature laugh, Michele brings such a wealth of value to our Brand Management Department that we were so excited to share with our readers.

Later that day, several HQ Team Members represented the brand at the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 ABBY Awards.

We had a great time celebrating the community of Aberdeen with many fellow community business leaders!

As we began barrelling through the latter half of the month, we began preparing for some of our biggest milestones yet! On October 23rd, My Place Communications Coordinator Tyler Harris (that’s me!) shared a recap of our time at the Grand Opening of NSU’s Harvey C. Jewett IV Regional Science Education Center.

The article, titled “Pride in the Pack: Looking back on a big afternoon at Northern State University,” highlights the tremendous afternoon we shared with one another at NSU and offers discussion on the impact of Ron and the Rivett family on the Aberdeen community. The remainder of our month would only pick up speed from here.

Soon, My Place Director of Public Relations Ngoc Thach and VP of Franchise Sales and Development Eric Myers made their way to Phoenix, AZ to represent the brand at The Lodging Conference 2019! They would spend three days connecting with some of the industry’s most renowned professionals and spreading the word about how great My place is.

Concurrently with Ngoc and Eric’s trip to Phoenix, we celebrated two of our biggest milestones yet on the same day: the opening of America’s 50th and 51st My Place Hotels!

In the early afternoon of September 24th, we received word that My Place Hotel Watertown, SD had been granted approval to open for business and would become America’s 50th My Place Hotel and our guests’ first opportunity to take in the brand new Generation 2 Guestroom!

We were so thrilled to share the excitement for the opening of the 50th My Place Hotel in our home state of South Dakota. (If you’re reading this, we’ll let you in on a secret. The Grand Opening of My Place Watertown will take place on October 29th!). Click here to learn more about My Place Watertown.

Later on that afternoon, we also received word that America’s 51st My Place Hotel was officially open in Carson City Nevada.

My Place Carson City’s Grand Opening event is slated to take place on October 10th, so we hope you’ll join us in Nevada. Click here to learn more about My Place Carson City.

Elated that our two newest hotels opened on the same day, the excitement for our 50th and 51st hotels reverberated throughout My Place HQ for the rest of the week.

To close out a splendid September, we did we what we do best at My Place Hotels: celebrate a major milestone. On September 27th, we officially welcomed My Place Hurricane, UT to the My Place Family at their Grand Opening celebration.

We had such a lovely time in Utah, joined by Team Hurricane and the community of Hurricane! Readers can expect an official recap from the event in the coming weeks, written by Ngoc Thach!

While September has officially come to a close, we are so grateful for all of the meaningful opportunities we had to grow and celebrate with one another. As we gear up for an incredible Fall, we hope you’ll continue to follow us on our journey across the U.S. Here are few upcoming events that we hope you’ll join us in looking forward to in the coming weeks:
