Celebrating Avondale

We have been so excited to chronicle our experience in the days following the groundbreaking of My Place Avondale. From Mayor Kenn Weise’s visionary remarks to the community’s warm reception, we remain so grateful for it all. Join us as we take a step back into this soft (and oh-so-welcoming) dirt!

It was difficult to disrupt the flow of conversation and enthusiastic introductions, even as temperatures approached the mid-80s by the time shovels were set to turn earth on Arizona’s first My Place Hotel.

Lucky for us, John Safin, Southwest Valley Chamber President and CEO, knew just how to kick off the event.

“We are here for an exciting and historic groundbreaking for My Place Hotels,”

John said as he welcomed the crowd of community members and City Officials.

Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise shared the community’s vision for Avondale Boulevard and how My Place is filling a distinct role within it.

“There will be people who stay at this hotel who’ve never experienced Avondale before, but they’re going to experience our people, our hospitality, and they’re going to fall in love with our community just like you did,” Mayor Weise said. “Avondale Boulevard will be a destination and My Place fits right into that puzzle.”

In turn, our President/CEO Ryan Rivett thanked the Southwest Valley Chamber and the City of Avondale for their part and presence throughout development and beyond.

“Thanks to everybody for coming out! A great community like this and a great location like this doesn’t happen without a lot of input from the community and its representatives,” Ryan said. “We appreciate you welcoming us into the community and we look forward to being here for a long time to come.”

Representing the owners of MP Avondale, President David Gustafson tried to not miss an individual or organization who has helped the group get to this point. David recognized Haydon Building Co., the local General Contractors working on the beautiful four-story, 63-unit hotel.

My Place Avondale will feature an exterior design inspired by its surroundings in the City Center District.

“We are really grateful and we are ready.

We couldn’t agree more, David.

Congratulations, My Place Avondale!
